3 Heritage Turkeys

From: kenn garr

Sorry for any inconvenience my 3 Heritage Turkeys may have caused crossing the properties on Rt 155, they like to free-range around the house, kindof like dogs, however they weren't in their usual "ready to go in" place last night, thought they were roosting on property, but seem to have taken to their wild side and are on the move:  1 Tom- dark coloring, 2 Hens- Bourbon Red (reddish brown, white splashes)
Please don't take their lives, they should start laying soon, just interested in their where-abouts, and if they're causing any mischief.

NEW COORDINATOR NEEDED FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL SNOWSPORTS PROGRAM

This week marks the halfway point in the Black River Middle School Snowsports Program. This low-cost Wednesday afternoon opportunity affords middle school students the chance to ski, snowboard, ice skate, or nordic ski for eight weeks in the winter. Black River's participation in the program and collaboration with Okemo Mountain Resort has been excellent, and  Black River would like to express much gratitude to Okemo. We are also appreciative of the generosity of parent and community volunteers each week for assistance with supervision.

Black River Middle School is writing to immediately seek candidates for Program Coordinator for the Black River Middle School Snowsports Program. Since there are still several weeks of the program remaining, there would be an opportunity to cross-train the upcoming coordinator with Ms. McBain, who has managed this program for BRMS for the past four seasons. Ludlow Elementary School's program is run solely by parent volunteers, and it is the hope that parents at Black River will take this on so that the program may continue next year. Please be in touch with Black River High/Middle School at 228-4721 if you are interested in volunteering as the Snowsports Coordinator for the 2012-2013 season.

Duties for this position include a Coordinator’s meeting with Okemo in early November, distributing information to students and parents/collecting registrations, coordinating volunteers, explaining procedures to students, and supervising students and volunteers at the mountain each week. There are trainings for volunteers regarding rentals supervision and instruction for students. The job requires collaboration with the school cafeteria for student lunches, coordination of transportation with the municipal bus system, and working with the school to cut one check for the payment to Okemo.

Vermont State Police

The Vermont State Police is currently working with a crime reporting program, Crime Reports, that will supply timely crime data to the citizens of Vermont.  It is a mapping program that will allow you to apply various filters such as dates and crimes types, and will then populate a map with the criminal activity that has been reported to the Vermont State Police.  Once the map is populated with the various icons, you can click on the icon to view  a few more details about the incident.  The program includes the ability to submit anonymous tips about the incident that will be directed to the appropriate authority.

This is scheduled to be rolled out in the next several weeks but I wanted to give the Mount Holly community the opportunity to preview and provide feedback.  Crime Reports is located at   https://www.crimereports.com/  Once at the site, enter the town and state in the address box.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have.  I can be reached by email at   dpatch@dps.state.vt.us
