PLANNING COMMISSION

The terms of two members of the Planning Commission end in November 2011.

The Planning Commission meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 pm.

Vermontapalooza at the Library!

Did you know that the Mt. Holly Library collection contains the works of many exciting Vermont authors? Some of them from right here in town.

Works of fiction include, 17 titles by renowned mystery writer and Vermont author , Archer Mayor, whose detective, Joe Gunther, stakes his territory right here in the Green Mountain state. The Library has Mayor's most recent work in hard cover, his first on CD, and many in between.

We have multiple titles by Frank Mosher, whose stories are also set here in Vermont.

And Marc Estein's "The Lamantations of Julius Marantz" is a bumpy, idiosyncratic ride by a brilliant Burlington based author, whose work conjures up a bit of Nathaniel West, some Mark Helprin, and a touch of Woody Allen.

From the non fiction and very local department, we have "Shouts and Whispers; The Civil War Correspondence of D.D. Priest, of Mt. Holly, VT," by Nancy Wilson.

And of course, the recent and widely praised biography, "Ethan Allen, His Life and Times," by Willard Randall.

For something betwixt and between fiction and non fiction, we offer, "Lucy E., Road to Victory," whose main character is born in Mt. Holly in 1826 and whose life, as told by Rutlander, Cassie Horner, is based on a true story.

There is even a book on the late, and much lamented, Green Mountain Transit Company.

So come on into the library and meet some new...and old..Vermont neighbors.

2011 Mount Holly Photo Contest WINNERS!

Congratulations to this year's photo contest winners.  As always, the judges had a difficult time making their decisions.  Many thanks to our judges Diana Garrow, Brenda Kelly, Alec McCallum, Stephanie Stouffer, and Craig Tomkinson for their always thoughtful discussions and selection.  Please note that Craig had to recuse himself from any discussion about family members' photos.

And thanks to everyone in the community who voted over the weekend for their favorite photos and for the 2013 Mount Holly Calendar.  For the first time, our popular prize winner was also our Grand Prize winner, Robin Boger - although she won for two different photos!

There is still time to vote for the photos for the 2013 Mount Holly Calendar.  The photos will be on exhibit through Sunday, October 23 on the lower level of the Community Center/Library.  Please visit during the library hours.

Finally, don't forget to buy your 2012 Mount Holly Calendars!  They are still available at the Belmont Store, Town Office, and the Community Center/Library.
