On Tuesday, November 29, 2011, the Ludlow Rotary Club will host its annual luncheon for prospective members at DJ’s Restaurant from 12:15 to 1:30 pm. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to learn more about the activities of the Ludlow Rotary Club, interested persons are invited to call Leslie Lever, Rotary membership chairperson, at 228-4744 for additional details concerning this event. You may also call Brigid Sullivan at 259-2274.
The Ludlow Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a group of more than 1.2 million business and professional people worldwide that seeks to improve local and world conditions. For example, Rotary International humanitarian efforts have all but eradicated polio worldwide. Paul P. Harris, the founder of Rotary, was born in 1868 and was raised in Wallingford, Vermont. He attended the Black River Academy in Ludlow and, in 1905, formed the first Rotary club in Chicago, Illinois.
The Ludlow Rotary Club service area includes Ludlow, Mt. Holly, Cavendish and Plymouth and draws members from each of these communities. The club meets for lunch and fellowship on Tuesdays. Club activities fund scholarships for area students, support local not-for-profit organizations and contribute to a myriad of other local and international humanitarian efforts.
