BRAM Needs Your Help In Identifying People From a 1930 Photo of Wadleigh School Students

Up in the third floor classroom exhibit at Black River Academy Museum (BRAM) is a photograph of students at Wadleigh School in 1930.  For years, BRAM staff believed they had identified everyone in the photo.  But, HARK, upon reviewing it recently, BRAM realized that two students in the photo had not been identified.  Wadleigh School was one of the 14 one-room schools in the area.  It was located on South Hill in Ludlow along with the Hemenway School in that same location.  The phot has been hanging in the Finnish exhibit since a large number of the known students were of Finnish descent, living in Ludlow.  The two students who have remained unidentified are the fifth and sixth students in the front row of the photo.  According to BRAM records, the students (and teacher) are identified, from left to right, as: back row, Ragnar Ranta, Lillian Maki, Ellen Alto, Ellen Menander, William Waite, Teacher, Arvo Tofferi, Floyd Tucker, Toivo Ekroos and front row, Aili Ekroos, Lillian Ekroos, Julia Tofferi, Aili Maki,UnidentifiedUnidentified, Dick Tucker, Tuuri Tofferi.  Alice Suojanen has assisted the museum in correcting the names and spellings for the known students.  However, the museum would appreciate any assistance the readers may offer in identifying the two remaining students.  To contact the museum, call 802-228-5050 or emaildirector@bramvt.org.  This is a puzzle that BRAM would very much like to resolve - with the readers help!  With the new elevator in the building bringing more visitors to its various exhibits, BRAM would like to complete the identifications of all in this historic photo.
