Anyone who uses OIL, PROPANE, GASOLINE, OR DIESEL

Joseph McDonald

(From Bourne Energy)
Anyone who uses OIL, PROPANE, GASOLINE, OR DIESEL should pay close attention to the following:
Lawmakers in Montpelier are struggling to reduce the budget deficit and options are being discussed on how to make up the difference. Several proposed bills, sponsored by legislators, would increase the cost of energy, from heating your home or business, to fueling your car, or fleet of vehicles. We believe this would hurt Vermonters, not help.
Anyone who uses ...
gasoline, diesel, oil, or propane should pay close attention to the proposed bills:
1.
H.395 and H.412 propose to add up to $100 per metric ton tax to carbon dioxide. This will affect your cost, adding $1.02 to each gallon of heating oil, $0.57 to each gallon of propane, and gasoline and diesel would each increase $1.07 a gallon.
2.
H.287 proposes to bring the fuel gross receipts tax up to 2% of all retail sales of heating oil, dyed diesel, kerosene, propane, natural gas, and coal. This equates to about a 6¢ per gallon increase for consumers.
The proposed fuel taxes, if approved, will impact budgets, and raise the cost of heating homes and businesses. This is deeply concerning and we recommend contacting your legislator to express concerns and to urge them to consider how these bills would really impact the residents of Vermont.
To contact your legislator select your zip code and cut paste the letter below, it only takes a minute. Encourage your neighbors, friends, and coworkers to do the same; many voices with the same message can be powerful.
