GMP warns of phone scam

BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Green Mountain Power is warning its customers of a phone scam. Company officials say someone is calling customers claiming to be from GMP's billing and disconnect division. They're then demanding payment.
GMP says it does not demand credit card information or alternate payment mechanisms from customers for any purpose.
If you get one the fake phone calls, you should hang up and report it to the Vermont attorney general office at 1-800-649-2424 outside Chittenden County or 1-802-656-1423 in Chittenden County.
